It has a sandy beach, a swampy bay for fishing and a few short trails. If you live in the city and are looking for a little nature, then Darlington is a great spot. 5X ZOOM PEOPLE!!!!!!!⁠⁠I rarely talk about gear here, but I've just spent a week with the new Google Pixel 8 Pro and I'm obsessed the the camera. ⁠⁠While I tend to lean towards my mirrorless camera or even a film camera to take photos, I love having a great camera on my phone to take snapshots, videos and BTS of the things I'm working on. ⁠⁠I stopped at Richardson's Lookout in Northumberland County and used the 5x zoom on the Pixel 8 Pro to really hone in on the best views. It’s pretty shallow here so you can walk out pretty far without getting in deep water. TRAIL LOG | Track and Tower Trail, Algonquin 🥾⁠⁠I couldn't wait to hike the Track and Tower Trail in Algonquin. It was better than I thought it would be. ⁠⁠I love the boardwalk bridges, the views along the lakes, the gorgeous pines and, yes, even the stairs to the lookout. The Fall colours were starting to show and the lookout was so worth the climb! I got to be a guest at Raven's Roost Treehouse this past weekend for a friend's birthday. I had to be dragged away kicking and screaming. Not only were the fall colours just stunning, but I could have stayed for weeks enjoying the sauna, fireplace and calming atmosphere. The @ravensroosttreehouse is perfect for one or two guests. At first, I thought the park was overrated, but that was before I made incredible experiences hiking, camping and photographing this park about a dozen times. Algonquin offers incredible opportunities for anyone hoping to enjoy the outdoors no matter the season. From just a taste at its front country campgrounds to full wilderness immersion in its 7,635 square kilometres of forests and lakes that can only be accessed by paddling or hiking. The only thing going for it is the access point to the gorgeous 30,000 islands region.⁠ That said, if you own a boat, canoe or kayak, getting out on the water in the Archipelago region of Georgian Bay is an absolute MUST. ✨ this is the series where I talk about every Ontario Provincial Park I've been to and tell you if they're worth visiting ✨20/115 Arrowhead Provincial Park⁠⁠Rating: 🌲🌲🌲🌲/5⁠⁠Highlights: Big Bend and Stubb’s Falls.⁠⁠Park Fact: Arrowhead is open year-round!⁠⁠I first visited Arrowhead Provincial Park in the winter and loved it! From the snowy view of Big Bend to the skating trail through the forest to the frozen waterfall, it was a magical adventure. I returned again in the fall and was able to see how beautiful the colours were in the park. The photo 🤝 The camera⁠⁠OOOOOOoooooo babbbby. Was I ever excited to get this roll of film back from the lab!! ⁠⁠So a month or so ago, I introduced you to the newest (aka, 10th) camera in my film collection, the Hasselblad 500C. It's old. It's beautiful, it's a work of art. And I am completely obsessed. ⁠⁠Naturally, I was equally itching to shoot a roll of film on it and wanting to wait for the right subject. ⁠⁠What's the big deal with a Hasselblad 500c anyway? Well, these cameras have a ton of history, from the camera to document the moon landing, that iconic image of the Beatles crossing Abbey Road, endless celebrities of the Hollywood golden age, and, of course, Ansel Adams himself used a Hasselblad while capturing the beauty of North America's landscapes.⁠⁠These cameras were like the Rolls-Royce of the camera world. It was so expertly made, yet such a simple design, that many of these cameras still operate perfectly today, over 60 years later. ⁠⁠The process of taking a photo with the Hasselblad is extremely slow. From metering the scene (there's no in-camera light metre), to framing the shot and nailing the focus, this camera isn't about speed, it's about method and patience. And as Ansel Adams once said - "You don't take a photograph, you make it."⁠⁠Are these images perfect? Nope, but they are my first from this historic camera. ✨ This is the series where I talk about every Ontario Provincial Park I've been to and tell you if they're worth visiting. ✨⁠⁠18/115 Grundy Lake Provincial Park⁠⁠Rating: 🌲🌲🌲🌲/5⁠⁠Highlights: motor-free lakes, dark skies and rugged but short trails. ⁠⁠Park Fact: Grundy has a mix of forests from both Northern and Southern Ontario⁠⁠Grundy Lake Provincial Park is a great park to experience Northern Ontario without the drive. It’s home to several small, motor-free lakes and front- and back-country camping. Visitors to Grundy Lake PP usually see black bears that frequent the park. I was there for one glorious night to photograph the stars. This feed is slowly turning into "Olivia take photos of things in the sky" and I'm here for it. ⁠⁠Lemme tell you about Comet A3 ☄️ - this is the brightest comet in the last 13 years (even brighter than Neowise in 2020) It's been visible to the naked eye since Oct 11, and will slowly disappear from view by Oct 20. ⁠⁠It starts to become visible around 45 min after sunset until it "sets" in the western sky a couple of hours later.⁠⁠I went out last night searching for the comet before it disappears (since it won't reappear for another 80,000 years). I basically just pulled over on the side of the road where I knew it had a good, unobstructed view of the western sky and waited. ⁠⁠What was awesome about last night was the incredible Hunter Moon supermoon that rose directly behind us, making it feel like daylight out. The moon made it a little hard to see the comet with my eyes, but I could definitely see through my camera. ⁠⁠Honestly, if you would have told me that I would be seeing and photographing a total solar eclipse, a comet and two auroras this year, I would have laughed in your face. ⁠⁠☄️⁠⁠*⁣⁠*⁣⁠*⁣⁠*⁣⁠*⁣⁠⁣⁠#CometA23 #Astrophotography #OntarioPhotographer #GreyHighlands #GreyCounty #DiscoverOntario #GeorgianBay #SGeorgianBay #ExploreCanada #NightSky #NightSkyPhotography #huntermoon #supermoon

They're back! Literally so STOKED that I got to catch the Aurora Borealis for the second time this year in my neighbourhood. ⁠⁠It wasn't quite as bright as the show in May, but it was like you could reach up and touch them as they danced across the sky. ⁠⁠There I was, editing away on my computer when I got an alert on my phone that there was a 23% chance of seeing the Aurora tonight. So I finished up my gallery and popped my head outside to see if I could see anything. September dump 🍂⁠⁠September passed like a blink of an eye, with several back-to-back weddings and sessions all over Ontario, I'm just starting to catch my breath again. ⁠⁠This month, I got to travel to Prince Edward County, Napanee (in which I listened to Avril Lavinge only), Essex County, Port Severn, and Niagara-on-the-Lake among others. I didn't get to do a lot of sightseeing, but I did get out and enjoyed the gorgeous weather we had, soaking up a few beach days and walks along the trails at home. ⁠⁠One late night, on my drive home I looked up to see the stars looking so freaking dazzling. August slipped away into a moment in time 🩵⁠⁠What a wild August it's been! Wedding season is in full swing keeping me busy busy busy, so I've been trying to spend my free time by checking off things from my summer bucket. ⁠⁠A few life hiccups got in the way of a few items on my list, but that's okay. What I love most about creating these seasonal bucket lists is not to check off every single one, but to do my best and enjoy all the little things. ⁠⁠Here are a few of the summer bucket list items I checked off in August:⁠⁠✅️ Go to a really big antique market⁠✅️ Go for a bike ride on a rail trail and stop for ice cream⁠✅️ Camping with friends!⁠✅️ Buy a bouquet of flowers from a roadside vendor⁠✅️ Go to the Ex⁠⁠Also, quick reminder that summer ends Sept 21. Algonquin camping trip ✅️⁠⁠I can't believe it took me until mid-August to finally get out for a camping trip this year! I booked a last-minute site at Kearney Lake campground in Algonquin and hoped for the best, weather-wise. ⁠⁠We were a little unprepared for how chilly it would be, but it worked out in our favour because there were no bugs! ⁠⁠Also took the opportunity to revisit some of my favourite short trails in the park:⁠🥾 Lookout Trail⁠🥾 Spruce Bog Trail⁠🥾 Hardwood Lookout Trail⁠⁠I'm slowly trying to hike all the trails in Algonquin 😅⁠⁠•⁠•⁠•⁠•⁠•⁠#OntarioParks #AlgonquinProvincialPark #ExploreOntario #OntarioCamping #OntarioOutdoors #WomenWhoExploreOntario #GoodTimesOutside #WomenOutdoors #CampingLife #CampingVibes
