With packing, I find there is no happy medium. It’s either “Shit I can’t believe I forgot that” or “Why did I bring that”, there’s no middle ground. When I was packing for my Alps road trip, I knew I needed to be strict.
Planning outfits was the easiest way to figure out how much clothing I really needed to bring. Call it what you will (cough – A-type – cough). I know okay. I LOVE planning. Deal with it. I brought the least amount of clothing without feeling dirty, plus I knew most items would be under a coat anyway, so wear something three times in a row was acceptable.
Long weekends in summertime are a perfect opportunity to get away. That extra day makes a world of difference, even giving you the opportunity to hop on a plane for a weekend getaway.
I need this trip to Quebec City, so badly, but I also need to be super organized with the little time I have. Let’s not worry about what to wear and instead, focus on being present in the historical city.
I tend to be on the light side of packing. I don’t bring a lot of clothes, but I don’t skimp either. The way I do this is to plan outfits. Sounds overly-organized sure, but it allows me to figure out how many items of clothing to bring.
So I leave for Greece tomorrow.
My goodness, time has flown by.
I spent all day packing and leaving things clean and tidy at home.
I actually researched quite a bit about the most efficient way to pack. I mean, I AM going for 4 weeks. What I wanted to make sure is that I had a few options that I could mix and match to get a ton of outfits with a small about of pieces. I also had to consider the weather and the conditions we would be in. We are planning on visiting a few churches, so I needed modest dresses. We are taking a few overnight ferries, which means pants and a jacket. All of this together I also had to factor in the nightmare of having an overweight bag.
I also had to factor in that our trip has two parts: an apartment part and a backpacking part. So, don’t let the big suitcase deceive you. One half is clothes, the other half is backpacking stuff. The great part is we can keep our stuff in the flat in Athens while we island hop.
Packing is making me so nervous! Will I have enough stuff? Do I have too much stuff? Honestly, it is really hard to fit part of your life into a suitcase. (There is a life lesson in there I am sure.)
Here is my amazing packing result:
